30 Under 30 Film Festival the First for Mark Cuban’s The Landmark at 57 West The 5th annual three-day event kicks off at the United Nations Women Headquarters spotlighting millennials changing the world with positive, impactful films that support the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals
NEW YORK, NY, December 1, 2017 -- the 5th Annual 30 Under 30 Film Festivalpresented by Brewer Media kicks off tonight in New York City, spotlighting 30 films and 30 filmmakers, all under the age of 30. Founded in 2013, the 30 Under 30 Film Festival takes place December 1st - 3rd with 30 films spanning five different screening blocks. The festival’s line up of panels will be capped off with the Global Changemakers panel moderated by former NY Giant captain, philanthropist and executive producer, Jack Brewer. The festival has attracted a wide range of young talent including breakout Director Quinn Shephard, 2017 Tribeca Film Festival Best Actress Nadia Alexander, Brandon Micheal Hall, star of NBC’s The Mayor and 2-time Emmy Award winning actor and producer Eric Nelsen. The 30 Under 30 Film Festival has received ongoing support and sponsorship from sports icon and NFL legend Ray Lewis amongst other highly respected influencers. This year’s festival received film submissions from over 30 countries. The 30 Under 30 Film Festival commences with the Opening Night selection at UN Women Headquarters spotlighting international films about UN SDG Goal #5: Gender Equality. Screenings continue with Cinema Saturday and Sunday Brunch at Megu NYC. The festival culminates on Sunday evening with the Closing Night screenings finale and awards ceremony at The Landmark at 57 West, marking the first film festival to take place at Mark Cuban’s premier venue. This red carpet affair will be followed by an exclusive VIP Party, hosted by William Benson and Billionaires Row champagne. 30 Under 30 Film Festival Founder Sebastian Rea and President Courtney Baxter have assembled a prestigious jury composed of high profile programmers from Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) and DOC NYC as well as numerous Emmy and award winning filmmakers. Awards are presented in various categories with all prizes designed to empower filmmakers with a chance to do social good as well as the opportunity to have their films screened at top-notch events surrounding Art Basel and Super Bowl. “I started the 30 Under 30 Film Festival as a thriving 20-something year old filmmaker on my own with the vision of providing a much-needed platform for young storytellers to use their films to create awareness of complex problems,” commented 30 Under 30 Film Festival founder Sebastian Rea.
